PERSPECTIVES

IF NOT US, WHO?

IF NOT NOW,

WHEN?

These are the questions with which we opened the 1st MAPS Forum - Tourism, Events and Sustainability. Simple and direct, these were the questions that moved us towards the creation and realization of this FORUM that brought together 31 specialists, researchers, representatives of ancestral peoples, institutions and national and international associations.

In completing this event and in the position we occupy today as organizers and economic agents active in the three sectors that give the Forum its name, we are responsible to give answers that, we hope, will only be the first and lead, in fact, to concrete actions for change planning parameters and update practices and goals for these segments, aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the UN and increasingly impacting the lives of people and the planet.

YES, US!  That is our answer to the first question. And  MAPS Forum  is the result of that response.

NOW!  This is our answer to the second question.

MAPS Forum was just the first and the most immediate step we took. During the event, we were able to bring together and connect Tourism, Events and Sustainability sectors to a common objective. We went looking for people, important personalities, important representatives at all levels and we made bridges between them, we opened the dialogue and the exchange of ideas and experiences. We have planted some seeds that we want to grow.

PAINEL 1

Tourism and Sustainability: Economic viability

PAINEL 2

Climate change: what does tourism have to do with it?

PAINEL 3

Sustainable Tourism: possible alliances?

Watch it

PAINEL 4

PAINEL 7

PAINEL 8

Tourism and Regeneration: a solution out of the crisis

And finally, we want to ask the question that must necessarily follow the first two:

 IF NOT LIKE THIS, HOW?

MAPS Forum 2020 participants, whether as representatives of companies, organizations, communities or as individuals, shared several ongoing projects with the audience, which are the real proof that a new way of thinking and working with resources is totally feasible. In fact, much more than doable, it is necessary. And it still shows itself as the only access to a reality that has been knocking on our door.

Tourism, Events and Sustainability need to be managed as a tripod, capable of sustaining demand and supply on a firm and stable basis for the whole of society
